Monopoli

Città di Monopoli

Monopoli is located on the Adriatic coast about 40 km from Bari.
This is a charming town with historical fishing boats in the harbor which has preserved its fishing tradition.

The city center is surrounded by secular olive trees. The oldest part of the town faces the sea. However, Monopoli is also a rural town with trulli, farms, small houses and olive groves. Its rural architecture speaks of the agricultural past of the town.

The coast, about 13 kilometers long, is a combination of white sandy beaches and hidden bays with transparent water. There are dozens of beaches, some being especially beautiful, such as “Porto Bianco,” “Porto Rosso”, “Porto Paradiso”, “Porto Camicia”, “Porto Marzano” and a wonderful beach “Cala Verde”. “Capitolo”, an area located in the south of Monopoli, represents the center of nightlife of Monopoly and its neighboring towns.

Polignano a Mare, the birthplace of Domenico Modugno and other outstanding people, is a little town overlooking the sea. It is considered to be the source of inspiration for many poets and artists.

If you arrive from the northern side of the town, the first place you will see is the charming Old natural harbor with the “Punta del Bastione Santo Stefano“. Right after the harbor you will find the Arco della Porta (the Door Archway), once the town’s only entrance, which will lead you to the old town fortified by ancient walls. The town with its small white houses, shady streets reflects a very simple Mediterranean architecture. The external stairs and graceful arches are decorated with colorful flowers and the images of saints.

Polignano a Mare is also a true archeological treasure as there are a lot of sea caves and caverns where important archeological artifacts were found. Of all the caves “Grotta Palazzese” is the most enchanting one. It is considered to be the “lady” of the caves and today it houses an exclusive restaurant.

Alberobello

Città di Monopoli

A little town in the Murgia upland, Alberobello was declared a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site in 1996. It is located in the Itria Valley between the Adriatic and the Ionian Seas. The town is divided into two districts: “Monti” and “Aia Piccola”, which are both considered national monuments.

The “Trulli” have a universal value, since they constitute a unique testimony of a civilization or a cultural tradition that once existed. They are a genuine example of architecture that illustrates an important period of human history.

Embraced by such small towns as Alberobello, Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Cisternino, the landscape of the Itria Valley fills the panorama with a true timeless magic.

Ostuni seems like a splendid mirage standing on the hill covered with the green which eventually dives into the blue of the Adriatic Sea. Have a stroll in the narrow streets and feel the atmosphere of beautiful courtyards and squares surrounded by white houses, craft shops and restaurants where you can enjoy delicious meat and seasonal vegetables.

Life is very peaceful here, filled with the fragrances and flavors of the past. Stop in the plain of Fasano and relax in one of the ancient masserias which have been transformed into wellness resorts. Hidden in the gardens of aromatic herbs, these ancient buildings have a story to tell and their terraces offer breathtaking views.

Discover the surrounding area: age-old olive groves and pastures, fossil dunes, and enchanting beaches. Immerse yourself in the history of Egnazia, dive into the transparent waters near archeological sites and swim in the pristine seas of Torre Guaceto, a large marine nature reserve.
